Student Government Leadership
The St. Louis Job Corps has an active Student Government Association (S.G.A.) and Leadership program. We encourage you to become involved with S.G.A. during your stay. The purpose of these programs is to teach student employees citizenship skills by providing them with practice in self-government and opportunities to learn and practice positive leadership skills. The skills you will learn through your participation in these programs will prove highly valuable as you enter your chosen careers. They will also teach you importance of being involved in the decision-making processes on issues that effect people's lives and communities, not to mention the responsibilities that come with being a positive and productive member of society.
After you have been in the program for at least 45 days and have achieved the status of Red Card, you will be eligible to become a Student Leader. Leadership opportunities offered include: Dorm Office, S.G.A. Representative, and Recreation Leader. Student employees must be a Silver Card holder or above to serve on the Executive Council of Student Government.
A store featuring convenience products is operated by the Student Government on the main floor of the Center dorm building.
