To complete his or her Culinary Arts training, a student must master dozens of skills in the following categories:
- Prepare food for service occupations
- Safety and sanitation
- Practical utility operations, food preparation tools
- Clean, prepare, cut and store vegetables and fruits
- Prepare breakfast dishes
- Prepare salads and dressing
- Prepare sandwiches and frozen foods
- Prepare meats and fish
- Prepare pastas, dry legumes, other starches and sauces
- Prepare soups and appetizers
- Food management
- Breads and desserts
