Facilities Maintenance
To complete his or her Facilities Maintenance training, a student must master dozens of skills in the following categories:
- Use, storage and handling of all tools and equipment, and general safety
- Door hardware and doors
- Basic wall construction
- Drywall/plaster surfaces, trim and moldings
- Window glass repair and reinstallation
- Weatherproofing with caulking and weatherstripping
- Gutters and downspouts (clean, inspect, repair and replace)
- Floor surfaces
- Pipes, drains, faucets, water closets and water heaters
- Circuit breakers, fuses and circuits
- Power supply cords, switches and receptacle, interior and exterior lighting
- Surface applications and tile
- Basic heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC)
- Groundskeeping
- Building safety and security, administration
- Swimming pool maintenance and snow removal
