To complete his or her Welding training, a student must master dozens of skills in the following categories:

• Use tools to shape and cut metals
• Cut with flame and plasma arc
• Interpret prints and drawings
• Recognize weld tests and codes
• Weld metals with flex cord equipment
• Weld metals with shielded metal arc equipment
• Weld metals with gas metal arc equipment
• Weld metals with gas tungsten arc welding equipment
• Perform supplemental welds and cuts
• Recognize weld tests and codes
• Welding mathematics
